Division of Computational Social Science
About Us
The Division of Computational Social Science was established in 2023. It aims to face the challenge of technological development in humanities and social sciences. It applies computational methods to the traditional disciplines of political science, sociology, economics, anthropology, history, psychology, and language studies, as well as interdisciplinary fields, such as international studies, environmental studies, sustainable development, urban studies and public and global health. Computational methods are broadly defined. In addition to big data analysis, machine learning and artificial intelligence, conventional approaches, such as statistical modeling, survey research and experiments, are equally welcome. The Division is actively recruiting faculty with computational social science background from the top universities around the world and we has launched China's first MPhil-PhD and MSc in Computational Social Science programmes in 2024. These programmes are designed for students with computational training and strong interests in social science, or vice versa.
