01 About the Forum
The 5th Chinese National Forum on Computational Social Science will be themed “Innovation in Social Science with Computational Science Assistance”. Innovation in social science research methods is a crucial pathway for accumulating knowledge and fostering theoretical innovations concerning the rules of human societies. In recent years, the digitization transformation of public governance has created opportunities for applying new research data and emerging research methods in social science. More and more researchers are exploring scientific research using new approaches such as online experiments, big data, and machine learning. During this exploration, computational social science also faces some new challenges, including how to go beyond the instrumental use of digital technologies, adapt research agendas to technological changes, better utilize cutting-edge computational methods to advance and innovate the foundational theories of social science, and promote methodological and technological innovations in computational science based on digitized social governance and scientific research.
This forum will invite researchers in computational social science from both domestic and international backgrounds to engage in in-depth discussions on topics such as research agendas, data resources, research tools, research methods, and paradigmatic innovations. The forum explores the revolutionary development of social science paradigms in the digital era and the possibilities of integrating social science with computational science for joint development.
